j and z's wedding

A beautiful wedding over the weekend. Lots of salsa dancing and utter happiness.

Carmen's words:
I wanted to write something about opposites
Something about the delectable discord between lovers that bewilders the heart
and dares the soul to grow
I tried.
But I kept getting distracted by this incredibly beautiful image
It lives in John's cell phone
And this is true
I see it whenever I think of either of them
They are together on a beach, a clear blue sky is behind them
The wind has blown their hair into a wild mess
It’s gorgeous
And they look so perfectly coherent
So from the dawn of time it could have never been any other way
So thank all the gods and forces of the universe that we came to know each
other
So Beautiful
And I am struck dumb
I can’t say a thing
And so I defer to Margret Atwood
I’ll let her tell us something about love

Habitation
by Margaret Atwood

Marriage is not
a house or even a tent

it is before that, and colder:

the edge of the forest, the edge
of the desert
the unpainted stairs
at the back where we squat
outside, eating popcorn

the edge of the receding glacier

where painfully and with wonder
at having survived even
this far

we are learning to make fire

We are all so happy for you
Best wishes for your eternal blaze

Still trying to figure out if Steve and I are the only ones who got the Salsa Bootcamp in the mail. . .
